she

She is all red curls and round belly.
She loves baby dolls and monster trucks.
She does things, "all by self".
She could give a fuck what her hair looks like or if she's wearing pants.
She has a gap between her two front teeth.
She isn't afraid to speak her mind or to yell it.
She doesn't go anywhere without her blanket or her smile.
She listens to Bruce Springsteen in the car.
She can't get through the day without 'reading' books or 'singing' songs.
She goes down the stairs on her bum but jumps the last two.
She's fearless.
She runs down the hall and splashes in the tub.
She begs for back scratches.
She's two years old now.

Before her, I thought I could never love my second as much as my first.

She proved me wrong.

Her arrival was staight out of Bollywood.

  3. Lovely. Simply lovely.

My kids' favourite Bruce song is "Old Dan Tucker" from Live in Dublin. We dance to the whole CD set all the time.

  8. I always wonder how you can love the second as much. I know that you almost always do. I guess I won't know until it actually happens. Did you realize it while pregnant or only once she was born?

Lovely post! I love hearing about kids' unique personalities.

  9. THAT is her personality.

    It won't change.

Now that my 2 oldest are 16 and 14, I can see how much like the babies they were, they still are now.

    Had I only known..

  10. @Janine @ Alternative Housewife I knew the second I held her, but all through my pregnancy I was preparing to keep the dark secret that I wouldn't be able to love my second the same way!

  11. @The Empress She is all personality! As if you have a 16 and a 14 year old!!! (they're still your babies right?)

  12. I had a friend send me a poem about loving two. I had NO idea how on earth I could love a second child as much as my first. Those little monsters weasel their way right into your heart and help you create more love. You don't have to share it, you just have more.  She's lucky to have you for her momma.

  13. I still have a hard time believing you moms who say you love your second as much as your first. I know, I know, you're probably right but it just seems like such a mind bending concept.

  14. Oh, how could you not? 'reading' books and 'singing' songs : ) Lord, I seriously need me some grandchildren. I'm hoping for red headed ones someday.

I always assumed people lied when they said that they loved their seconds as much (I'm the oldest and clearly the favourite) but its true.

  17. @Mom of the Perpetually Grounded Warning: 1 red headed child is equal to 3 regular kids.

  24. She is awesome! How could you not love her? But I totally understand, I often wondered if I could ever love another child half as much as my son. Now I just wonder where I'd find the energy for another one!
